Strengthening the Fight against Corruption: Moral Dilemmas of Judges and Prosecutors

On 19 and 20 June 2023, a conference titled „Strengthening the Fight against Corruption: Moral Dilemmas of Judges and Prosecutors“ was held at the Hermitage Prague Hotel. The theme of the conference was moral dilemmas of judges and prosecutors, with an emphasis on the topics of freedom of expression, personal integrity, the use of social media, artificial intelligence or the side activities of judges and prosecutors. A Comparative Study on Codes of Ethics for Judges and Public Prosecutors (downloadable) was presented at the conference, comparing the situation in the field of ethics of both professional groups in 11 countries.

The conference is one of the important activities of the project „Strengthening the Fight against Corruption by Increasing General Awareness of the Public Sector Focusing on Judges, Prosecutors and Public Administration“, which is supported by the EEA Grants 2014-2022 under the „Good Governance“ programme. The financial support from the EEA Grants enables all participants to address the topics addressed in the project in greater depth. The individual outputs of the project thus contribute to a better understanding of the issues, help to implement effective measures and at the same time raise awareness of the issues externally. The project partners of the Ministry of Justice are the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Judicial Academy.
